Investing in Rumania

  • Industrial and cultural capital city

  • The Eastern Paris

  • Approximately 3 million inhabitants

  • Bucharest was founded on the banks of the Dâmboviţa river in 1459 by Vlad Ţepeş, best known as Drácula. Its name is associated with a shepherd called Bucur, that in Romanian means "happy", "cheerful"; therefore, Bucarest could be translated as "the city of happiness".

The outrageous architecture, cultural and cosmopolitan environment in the first half of the XXth century, and its avenues full of trees were the reason for the city to be called "the Eastern Paris" or "Little Paris".

The eclectic mixture of architectonic styles of Bucarest, starting with the Curtea Veche (the old playground) and the ruins of the Palace (built in the XVth century), passing by Orthodox churches, Second Empire style villages; the heavy Stalinist architecture of the comunist period and the Palace of the Parliament, a magnificent building, with six thousand rooms, the second biggest one after the Pentagon.

Bucharest is considered the cultural capital city of Rumania as it has many museums like the National Art Museum or the National Romanian History Museum. In addition, a visit to the astonishing building of the National Opera is always recommended. Constructed with a neo-classic style of the Romanian Atheneus, there is always room for classic performance (Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Mozart).

As a sample of the cosmopolitan life there are several store shops in the area of the Piata Unirii (Union Square) and in the main avenues. Another unforgettable experience would consist on visiting the busy bazaar on Sunday mornings, in the banks of Dâmbovita river.

The night life in the city is very moderately priced with a wellcoming environment in pubs, restaurants and clubs; furthermore, the evenings are occasionally accompanied by the rythms of gypsy music. Definitely, the Romanians are full of life who like to have a good time.
